The House and negotiators at the Senate in Florida arrived at a draw while trying to patch up things with its residents and the idea of expanding card games like blackjack casino games. Although the state was allowed to cash in millions of dollars in revenue, the possibilities of not arriving at a solution could open up a pot of other problems.
Instead of letting go of as much as $228 million, Legislators would definitely return for the special session which would cost a minimum of $40,000 a day.
If they fail to arrive at a decision before the session ends then Gov. Charlie Crist threat against declining workers’ compensation matters. Crist declares that if they do not arrive at a conclusion he may have to remove a few things off the budget.
If they arrive at a decision the change would include restoring lawyers’ fees in workers’ compensation cases. The vote for the session could also consider revisiting the $6 billion hole in the $66 billion budget.
The Court was still divided on the idea of gambling and the House refusing to allow blackjack and other card games in the state. The tribe continued with the operation of games at Hard Rock Resort and Tampa after the ruling was made.
The Chief Gambling negotiator of the House created ‘a lot of angst’ meaning a lot of anguish for the House. He also said that the State must be cautious and not award bad behavior.
Later on the Senate decided to limit the card games to blackjack at a few parts of the State but it did not proceed further. One of the representatives claimed that they were hoping to make progress in the future.
