Blackjack Side Bet Called Streak Bets
The blackjack side bet where players can bet on a certain number of consecutive winning hands is catching up in many casinos off late. This side bet is called a ‘streak bet’ and was invented by Mao Gaming and is actually being tested at some gaming jurisdictions. The modus operandi is once a player places his bet he is given the chance to wager on the number of consecutive hands he thinks may win, and accordingly proceeds to wager.
This streak betting area is indicated by a separate space above the usual wagering spot and has four circles marked out. If a player decides on making a streak wager, then he is supposed to place his chips in one of the four wagering circles, thus indicating a streak of either 2,3,4 or in a row. In the event of a player betting 2 in a row and winning two consecutive blackjack hands, he gets paid at 4 to 1 odds, which in effect means if you wager $5 and win your payout would be $20. It is important to note that tie hands have no effect on the streak bet, to understand this even further the following tabulation shown below would be useful:
Streak Bet – Payoff
Win 2 in a Row – 3 to 1
Win 3 in a Row – 7 to 1
Win 4 in a Row – 17 to 1
Win 5 in a Row – 37 to 1
When it comes to determining the casino’s edge on a streak bet you would have to know the likelihood of winning any hand in blackjack casino games, to understand this even further the following tabulation would be useful:
Streak Bet – Casino Advantage
Win 2 in a Row – 9.7%
Win 3 in a Row – 14.3%
Win 4 in a Row – 8.4%
Win 5 in a Row – 8.2%
